Boat Fishing Rods
Good, fishing rod holders support the weight of the
rod and the weight of the fish, while keeping the rod in the right position. Of course you can buy one but
why bother? You can make one! First get some PVC piping.
Making Fishing Rod Holders for Your Boat
Things You Need: 1-1/2 feet PVC pipe, 2 machine
screws, cutters drill, strong wood board, and rope
- Find a 1 1/2ft piece of
PVC pipe. It is usually found in hardware stores. If you have to cut a longer pipe, a pipe cutter should be
used. This can also be found at a hardware store.
- Using the cutter’s drill,
make a hole preferably 1/8 inch, 1 inch from the pipe’s bottom. Be sure to make the hole pierce both sides
of your pipe.
- Go up an inch from the
first hole and repeat step two. The holes should line up along the pipe’s
ridge.
- Lay the board on the
ground. It should be ¾- 1 foot wide and three feet long at least. The pipe should be laid perpendicular to
your board with the holes against the board. This prepares it for screw
placement.
- Attach the PVC pipe to the
board with the machine screws. You can now stand the board and pipe up with the pipe raising ¾-1/2 foot
over the board.
- Lean the board on the boat
and parallel the side. The board’s side should be inward. Dig a 1foot hole in the beach and bury the board
section of your holder to secure it in sand.
