Using a Shimano Rod

Shimano constructs a wide array of excellent fishing tackle for fresh and salt water fishing. These rods are well known for being durable and dependable. Shimano rods are offered in spinning as well as casting configurations. From small trout to marlin, Shimano has a rod to handle it. These poles come with features like Fugi guides and IMC 10 graphite. Users say they are easy to hand and pleasurable to use.

 A How to Guide

1.      With your dominant hand, hold the Shimano spinning rod. You want your fingers to be split. The middle and index finger should grip the rod at the front side of the supporting arm while the ring and pinky finger grip your rod at the rear of the support. Wrap your thumb around the handle comfortably for support.

2.       Spin the handle of the reel to get the line roller situated at the spool’s top. With your index finger, reach forward and hook the line in front of the roller and grasp it firmly against your rod.

3.      Open the reel’s bail and keep holding the line against the rod. Pick a target in the water and take the rod up and back so that its tip is over the shoulder. In a smooth quick motion, bring the rod tip down. As the tip gets close to your target, let the line go and let your lure or bait move to the target.

4.      With the dominant hand hold the baitcasting rod, hook your index finger around the trigger and rest your thumb on the reel’s spool. Use your thumb to press the spool release button and keep the pressure on the spool release button to keep your line from unwinding.

5.      Take the rod’s tip up and back over the shoulder and come down with a quick and smooth motion. When the tip nears your target, raise the thumb to let the line and lure go through the air. When the lure gets near the target, put pressure on the spool to avoid over spooling.

6.      On either the casting or spinning rod, bring the tip up to make you lure go up and down in an unpredictable motion on the water. With both rods, set a hook when a fish hits by bringing up the rod tip, reeling down, and setting your hook in a sideways movement with your rod.

7.      Keep the tip of the Shimano rod raised a little to maintain pressure on the hooked fish. This keeps tension on the line. With your rod, steer the fish away from obstacles like posts, bushes, and tree stumps that may make the line snap.
